Run for Wildlife {Giveaway for Safari Zoo Run 2018}

Remember how we were in #TeamChawang at Safari Zoo Run 2017 earlier this year and that we enjoyed ourselves tremendously in the 5.5km Family Run? Yup, that was our longest run ever and even though it took us hours, I have to say that Safari Zoo Run remains as our favourite run of all time. I mean, where else do you get to enjoy such scenic views, come up close with so many animal friends, run for a meaningful cause and have a wonderful time bonding as a family?

So, you bet we are already very much looking forward to Safari Zoo Run 2018! Yes, you heard me. It's going to make a comeback next year and we are all excited just thinking about it because it means we will get to run as a family of five (yes, the littlest can now walk, run, skip and hop!) In this post, I share more of the event and if you are keen, I have a giveaway at the end of the post too, so read on!

EVENT DETAILS

Safari Zoo Run 2018 will take place on 27 January (Saturday) in where else but the Singapore Zoo, of course! The Race Village will be open at 6am and flag off timings for the individual races will be available at a later date at www.safarizoo.run.

THE TEAMS

Similar to 2017, the theme for next year's run will be "Run for Wildlife" and the objectives are to encourage family bonding and raise awareness for the conservation of our native wildlife. Did you know? Safari Zoo Run was conceived to commemorate Singapore Zoo’s famous matriarch and one of Singapore’s most loved animal personalities — Ah Meng the Sumatran orangutan, who died of old age in February 2008.

Four animal icons will be featured at Safari Zoo Run 2018 - namely Ah Meng the Orangutan, Chawang the Asian Elephant, Canola the Manatee and Sunny the Hornbill. Each animal icon team supports an endangered wildlife species in Singapore and participants are encouraged to help raise awareness for the endangered animals that their team is supporting by taking part in the team Instagram contest from now till the race day.

 CATEGORIES AND FEES

There are four different race categories and they are listed below. The Normal Rates, Early Bird Rates and Loyalty Rates (for participants who took part in Safari Zoo Run 2017) are also indicated accordingly.

Terms and Conditions 

*Loyalty rates applies to past participants of Safari Zoo Run in 2017 only.
**Adult supervision by a registered 5.5km Safari Zoo Run (Non-Competitive) or 2.5km Safari Zoo Dash (Non-Competitive) Kid participant is required. Due to safety reasons, one Adult participant can only be paired with one Kid participant in the same category. Exceptions are allowed on a case-by-case basis (e.g. 2 adults with 3 kids) and you can submit your request to safarizoo.run@hivelocity.com.sg

If you are like me and have a kid who is below 3 years of age as of 27 Jan 18, don't worry! They get to enter the race FOR FREE (without runner’s entitlements) in the non-competitive categories. All you need is an accompanied Adult registration. Yes, this is what I love about Safari Zoo Run, even babies are welcome to join in the fun too, yippee!
