Beautiful beach and family fun @ SAF Changi Seaview Resort

A villa by the beach.

That sounds like paradise and definitely something that only exists in my dreams.

Over the long National Day weekend, that dream did come true, even if it was only for a short while. Thanks to the hubby, we stayed in the SAF Changi Seaview Resort for the first time and yes, it was truly heavenly.

The beautiful and tranquil sea view from our front porch

The cute purple cow mascot which epitomises "Welfare in SAF"

There are 12 two-storey villas in total and this was our home for the next three days
We checked into our resort on National Day itself, all ready to party and have a great gathering with our families while watching the parade. When we first opened the door, like a kid opening birthday presents, I held my breath with anticipation, wondering what laid ahead. As if the sea breeze was not strong enough, what I saw blew me away.

First storey - Living room, spacious kitchenette, dining area, bathroom and spiral staircase

Second storey - Bathroom and two bedrooms equipped with two double beds, one single bed and one sofa bed

This was where the four of us would sleep in for the next three nights. A room with a gorgeous view.

The view from the bedroom. I definitely could get used to waking up to this instead of multi-storey car parks
Once we were settled down and done admiring the views, it was time for Angel and I to put up our DIY National Day decorations.

Ah-huh! Now that bunting makes it easy for everyone to find our villa

Flag here, flag there, Singapore flags everywhere

Don't you just feel the patriotism in the air?
Before the party began, we had to make sure there was food. Yes, it was time to barbecue! In fact, we had BBQ after BBQ after BBQ for all the three nights with our friends and families.

A box complimentary BBQ box was provided which included a pack of charcoal, wire mesh, fire starters, matchsticks, charcoal tongs and even a straw fan

Don't you just love the smell of barbecued food?
I have to give thanks to the hubby who worked hard in being a coolie who lugged food, bags and luggage; a chauffeur who had to fetch family members to and fro; a chef who could start perfect fires and roast delicious food; a cleaner who had to mop the floor and pack up the villa on the last day; and most of all a Daddy and a hubby who loved us in his own ways.

As for me, what did I do? I took care of the kids. Nuff said.

We went to the beach to build sandcastles and pick seashells every morning, afternoon and even night

Paper cups and bowls make great sandcastle building tools

I think we all need a family getaway once in a while to remind ourselves on the simple pleasures of life
For that few days, I didn't really care about whether the sun would scorch our skins or if we had sand in our ears. So long as the kids didn't eat the seashells or drink the seawater, all I wanted was for them to be happy. Ok, we did apply sunscreen lotion, put on our caps and yes, we bathed every day.

The sea, sand and sky have a magical way of calming my nerves
I was hoping to catch the sunrise but considering the bed was so comfy and we usually woke at 9, plus my father-in-law had tried and failed because he said the sun was blocked from our view, well, we just had to be contented with the beautiful beach and that tiny glimpse of sunset in the evening.

Me and my little one enjoying the sea breeze

The big one with her castle and train tunnel

The happiest person had to be Angel, who built lots of sandcastles, watched cartoon after cartoon, dug and found her self-proclaimed golden treasure, had no school for days, ate tonnes of junk food and had her first 'tattoo'. Which she pronounced as 'statue' instead and that made me guffaw every time. I kind of think Ariel enjoyed the stay too, judging by her smiles and the fact that she almost slept through the night.

A big thank you to everyone who came down to join us and to the hubby who made all this possible, I hope you had a good time with all the family and friends too. Now, we just gotta tell Angel that this is not our new house as she happily thinks it is.

Till the next family getaway!

    1. Hi, I'm not really sure about that and for some reason, the resort website is not working now when I tried. As far as I know, they have to book it in their computer system and it's by means of balloting. Do ask your friend to ask people he knows in the MINDEF, hopefully they can help him out. Thanks for reading!

  11. Hi, i would like to know that this is what type of chalet that you book?
Cause i have send and email to SAF enquiry on the type of chalet they have but they reply me that they only have twin, queen or honeymoon bedrooms. As i am planning my 21st bday next year and i want to find a chalet like yours that have double story.
so if possible can you provide me some more info about this kind of double story chalet.
