Pretty dresses for pretty girls

I'm not sure about you but as a member of the female species, I feel tremendously blessed to be able to parade in dresses. I mean, dresses are flattering, pleasing to the eye and come in myriad shapes, forms and design. The best thing is they are so easy to slip on and remove.

When it comes to kids, that last point is vital because in handling a effervescent toddler who can't stop bouncing around and yet wants to look pretty, dresses are perfect.

Check out some of Angel's new fashion dresses from IN2Kids and her modelesque pictures.

Monotone Chic Collared Dress

One of my current favourite dresses for Angel is this B&W dress designed in Korea. It has a cute black pleated collar and hem, fits at the shoulder and flares out to a wider hemline, giving it a streamlined and slim look. With her hair all bunned up, there was an air of elegance and charm in my girl that made her look both modern and chic.

As you can probably tell from my blog header, I love things that are in B&W because they can be so simple yet beautiful. Just like how I love the way the monotone colour and subtle details on this dress work together to make it look classy and tasteful.

Angel and I love to go out for walks pretty much every day and to be able to dress up stylishly makes my girl appear to be in even higher spirits. We met some friends in town and the first thing everyone did was to point to her dress and say "Mycket fint!" ("Very nice" in Swedish) which only made her beam with joy.

Now that Angel can articulate her views and feelings quite well, it is not hard to know if she is feeling uneasy, displeased or disgruntled. Like she would complain if the sun is making her eyes squint or if the air-condition is making her shiver.

After a day in town, I asked her how she felt in the dress and whether she liked it. Her answer was "Good" and "Yes, it's beautiful!" which pretty much summed up everything.

Soft Polka Cutesy Dress in Pink

One evening, the hubby arrived home early and we decided have a spontaneous family outing. After all, it is still summer in Karlskrona and the sun doesn't set till past 9pm, which gives us plenty of time to enjoy the daylight.

While I used to be the one who could dictate what Angel wore every day and night, the tables have turned and now my girl likes to pick out her outfits from her wardrobe herself. When she first set her eyes on this pink polka-dotted dress, which comes with a detachable flower brooch, pearl necklace and gold chain, there was no way she was going to step out of the house without putting it on.

I did try to talk her into other choices instead because we were after all going for a game of mini golf. Who dresses up like that for a game of golf? Well, just her then. It then dawned on me that so long as your child is happy, it's ok to let go of the rules once in a while. She actually seemed to love being in the limelight and best-dressed golfer of the day.

Contrary to what I expected, she felt very much at ease in the dress throughout the evening, despite the constant running around and stretching of limbs. For me, I love how the polka-dots, ruffles and cute accessories add together to give her a girlish, somewhat retro and a little tai-tai appeal.

It's not a typical everyday look for Angel but seeing how she adores it, I'm pretty sure this dress won't stay in the wardrobe for long before she decides to wear it out on a fashion parade again.

 Slender Pleated Frock in Green

Green has always been my favourite colour but let's face it, it's usually not a dominant colour in our wardrobes because it can be challenging to find a green outfit that looks charming.

So far, Angel only has one green outfit to date which is a second-hand pinafold fern green dress, which in my opinion, looks a little dowdy.

Not surprisingly, I was absolutely thrilled to see this cute little number from IN2Kids. Yes, it's GREEN!

I'm a huge fan of pleats because it makes you feel like a pretty dancer when you sway or turn around in circles. When the hubby and I were fervent about learning salsa, I practically wore pleated skirts for every lesson because they made me feel so good.

This dress is Angel's first pleated one, made of 100% cotton and comes in a soothing shade of light emerald green. It was a great outfit for her on a sunny day out at the lake where we were going to feed the ducks - one of our favourite pastimes in Sweden.

One of my main criteria in purchasing a dress for Angel is comfort. Yes, I will choose it over style. Being a bubbly toddler, she's always on the go and the last thing you want is for her to stop having fun due to a tight or prickly dress. I love how this pleated dress fits perfectly on her shoulders and yet is soft, flowy at the bottom.

Talk about comfort and style for kids, I guess they can be present simultaneously. Here was my little dancer trying to test out how well she could sashay in the dress. She walked, she ran, she hopped, she jumped, she turned.

But for most of the time, she smiled.

Nothing makes a mum happier than to see her little one happy.

To see her happy and pretty? Well, that's a bonus I absolutely welcome.

  8. She is so adorable in the summer dresses. I just bought some adorable summer sundresses for my girls at Burlington. They had such great dresses and I love that their prices are so much lower than they have in the department stores. We saved $100 on our shopping trip. You should check out www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com.
